MY MEDITATION It is the most frightening thing, to fall...

I trust myself to fall. I trust myself to lose my balance and lose myself and lose my way. I trust myself so much that I allow myself to fail. I allow myself to hurt. To blame. To shrink. To hide.

I trust myself to breathe and, breathing, to fall into balance. I trust myself to fall forward and to dance with the deep power of my passion and to persist in falling yet again through unending moments of collapse and becoming.

I trust myself to breathe and hold her safe and celebrate her and ravish her and to dissolve into her radiant and tremulous blossoming.

I am only alive, fully alive, in this most unreasonable moment of trusting myself, falling and turning and moving in this dance of polarity.

In dancing I am trusting, but not entirely, my structure and discipline and my practice; dancing I am trusting, but not entirely, her gushing flow of beauty and tenderness and pain and confusion; dancing I am only trusting entirely the art that is born of these poles of being and becoming, awareness and unfolding, masculine and feminine...

Today I trust myself, falling.

TODAY'S INSPIRATIONS 🌀Life usually unfolds along the lines of your thoughts, emotions, and impulses, but the healthiest influences on your life are quite the opposite. They're your discipline, your points of focus, and your stability...all guiding you far more effectively. (Guru Singh and Guruperkarma Kaur, Robust)

TODAY'S SUGGESTED PRACTICE Five minutes to fall in and out of balance....

Please read through first, then ...

  • Set a timer for five minutes

  • Standing with a straight, firm (not stiff) spine, your chin tucked, heart lifted. Let this heart pull you forward even as you are standing. Feel it tugging off your balance, your axis. This is, by the way, the perfect beginning to dance tango...

  • Keep your eyes open, focused on the horizon. Breathe as slowly as you can in these next few minutes. Your breath and your focus on the horizon will help you find yourself in the falling...

  • Now, let your heart pull you off your balance and fall slowly forward into your step. Let this be slower than you want. And then the next, even slower. The slower you fall into your step the more you will feel yourself losing your balance.... and finding it again as your foot lands.

  • Walk in as straight a line as you can. Or in a huge circle. Falling and finding yourself with every step as you move across the field, around your room, wherever you are. There is nothing except your heart moving forward, your body struggling to find itself through every fall. Remembering to breathe ever slower...

  • When the timer signals, gently coming to standing. Relax your focus, your breathe. Feel into your body. Perhaps you feel relieved to be still and held in your own balance. Perhaps you already miss the falling and the catching, this feeling of the feminine flow and the masculine structure of this short moment as you've danced your own polarities... Take a few moments here to feel all of yourself, your body, the space around you.

  • When you're done, step into your day knowing that you are born to dance this endless falling and catching. It is your life, and it is, like you, beautiful and powerful. Take THAT into your day.

  • Please join me tomorrow morning at 4am Pacific time for this week’s Yoga for the Sacred Masculine class
